Authentic Islamic guidance with evidence from the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah
Marriage is a sacred contract in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Marriage is part of my Sunnah, and whoever does not follow my Sunnah has nothing to do with me." (Sahih Ibn Majah)
"And among His Signs is that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy." (Ar-Rum 30:21)
"When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half." (Al-Bayhaqi, authenticated by Al-Albani)
Divorce is the most hated permissible act to Allah. It should only be used as a last resort after all attempts at reconciliation have failed.
"Divorce is twice. Then, either keep [her] in an acceptable manner or release [her] with good treatment." (Al-Baqarah 2:229)
"The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce." (Abu Dawud, authenticated by Al-Albani)
Khula is permissible when the wife fears she cannot uphold the limits of Allah. She returns the mahr or agrees on compensation for her freedom.
"And it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day..." (Al-Baqarah 2:228)
Thabit's wife came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I do not find fault with Thabit in character or religion, but I fear kufr in Islam.' The Prophet ﷺ asked: 'Will you return his garden?' She said: 'Yes.' So he ordered him to divorce her. (Sahih al-Bukhari)
The Shahada is the foundation of Islam: bearing witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
"Say, 'He is Allah, [Who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'" (Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4)
"I have been commanded to fight against people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah..." (Sahih Muslim)
A Muslim may bequeath up to one-third of his estate to non-heirs. The remaining two-thirds must be distributed according to the shares prescribed in the Qur'an.
"Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females..." (An-Nisa 4:11)
"Allah has given everyone who has a right his due, so there is no bequest for an heir." (Sunan at-Tirmidhi, authenticated by Al-Albani)
All forms of riba (interest/usury) are strictly forbidden. Trade is permitted. Contracts must be free from deception, uncertainty (gharar), and injustice.
"Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest." (Al-Baqarah 2:275)
"The Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who gives it, the one who records it, and the two witnesses to it." (Sahih Muslim)
The Qur'an is the word of Allah, revealed as guidance for mankind. Tafsir is the science of understanding its meanings, context, and rulings.
"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah." (Al-Baqarah 2:2)
"The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Ijazah is a certification authorizing the holder to teach the Qur'an with a connected chain (Sanad) tracing back to the Prophet ﷺ.
"And recite the Qur'an with measured recitation." (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)
"Recite the Qur'an in the manner of the Arabs, for it was revealed in their language." (Authenticated by Al-Albani)
A fatwa is a non-binding legal opinion based on evidence from the Qur'an, Sunnah, consensus (Ijma'), and analogical reasoning (Qiyas). It must be given by a qualified Mufti.
"So ask the people of the message if you do not know." (An-Nahl 16:43)
"The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets." (Sunan Abu Dawud, authenticated by Al-Albani)
Prayer is the second pillar of Islam and is obligatory five times daily. It is the first matter one will be asked about on the Day of Judgment.
"Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times." (An-Nisa 4:103)
"The covenant between us and them is prayer, so whoever leaves it has disbelieved." (Sunan at-Tirmidhi, authenticated by Al-Albani)
